How to Keep Head Lice from Recurring After Treatment?

Head lice is an aggravating situation for kids and adults. Is very prevalent among children, but how to keep head lice from recurring after treatment is a dilemma for many families.

Once your child has been treated for the infestation, make sure to do a series of activities around the house. Your child's health extends beyond the initial treatment to ensure that the head lice is eliminated and stays gone for good.

Some Steps to Take to Eliminate Head Lice for Good

This is a list of things to consider when trying to permanently get rid of this parasitic infestation.

  • Clean and wash clothes, bed sheets, pillows, linens, sleeping bags
  • Clean and wash your child's toys
  • Clean and wash headbands, hair pieces, hair brushes
  • Clean and wash caps, hats, scarfs

Just because the child has been treated does not ensure that remaining louse eggs will not hatch in other areas of the house.

Not cleaning everything that the child touches, rests, sits or lays on, will only make it easier for the lice infestation to remain.

Head lice, nits, and louse eggs are tiny and can hold up in various places you may not expect. They can not jump or fly. Rather, the infestation is spread from person to person.

Lice can live for a couple of days in limbo, so it is very important to clean anything and everything that your child may touch.
